We want to inform you of a change at Dairy Business Milk Marketing Cooperative. The board of directors has voted to discontinue the Disaster Assistance Plan (DAP) as of Sept. 1.
In our annual surveys, members repeatedly indicated they found declining value as the program became largely outdated. Instead, you strongly favored redirecting the funds toward our federal policy efforts.
We have begun to considerably strengthen our activity in Washington D.C. to protect your interests. Congress and federal policymakers are at a critical point in decision-making on things like the next farm bill and environmental regulations. We want to ensure that your interests are reflected in these decisions.
With the change to DAP, we encourage you to check with your insurance company to determine what coverage your farm has in a milk loss situation.
Thank you for your guidance on this program. We always value your feedback as we continue to evolve to remain an organization that leads in service and results.
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or Tim Trotter, our executive director, or Scott Munes, director of business development.
