June 2017 Leadership Letter

Greetings,

As we enter the summer months, it’s a good time to slow down and enjoy time with family and friends. My family always found picnics to be relaxing and enjoyable.

Last year, in conjunction with the Dairy Business Association, DBMMC held several Policy Picnics on member farms to provide an update to members on our legislative agenda in a relaxed, informal setting.

Having a well-informed and engaged membership is critical to realizing our legislative goals. The priorities include the farm bill, trade issues such as NAFTA, immigration reform, the federal budget and the overreach of EPA. These issues are not easy and all will require a lot of hard work. Your input and understanding of the issues is vital so you can communicate your opinions to legislators, agency officials and the White House.

Frequently, we hear legislators and agency officials say, “We want to hear from our farmers.” Farmers have a great deal of respect and credibility, so please attend one of these Policy Picnics to learn more about the issues and how you can get involved.

This year’s Policy Picnic schedule can be found below.

The dairy community can be successful if we are at the table, together, and offering sensible and practical solutions. I hope to see you soon and thank you for your willingness to get involved. Together, we can make a difference!

All meetings will include a meal. RSVPs are not required, but appreciated.  If you are interested in attending any of the meetings, please contact Lauren Brey at lbrey@dbmmc.com or call 920-883-0020 x107. More information is at dbmmc.com.
